Olhao, Portugal 7/1/2015
We have left Lagos and are now heading towards Spain for the ferry to Morocco.
Lagos 29/12/2014 – 05/01/2015
All is quiet on New Year’s Day. OK I lied, it was carnage, and so was New Year’s Eve and every day since we managed to escape the drunken clutches of the Turiscampo gang in Lagos. Unfortunately we responded to a request for any fellow ‘Funsters’ on the site. From there it was a swift route to Armageddon. New Year’s Eve rolled into New Year’s Day and, you get the picture. Seriously though we did meet a great bunch of people, namely Anne and Geoffrey, Dave and Tina, Brian and Andrea and Fiona.
New Year’s Eve was spent at the campsite and heavy usage was made of the free wine aspect. And the inevitable happened with very poor dance moves, loving everyone within a 50 metre radius, and planning to swim in the sea at midday on the First. No shame here, but I was the first person to whim out of any aqua based shenanigans. Here are some pictures below.
To feel guilty over the non-bathing scenario I suggested a BBQ instead. I am not sure if anyone was sober when we started the cook but rest assured no one was by the time we finished it. I think you are now getting the picture about life here, so no need to dwell. An unlikely outcome of all of this is that Dave & Tina have decided to join up with us for our Morocco Adventure. Who said Alcohol doesn’t change your life? Lastly the campsite is the best we have visited and is recommended to all and our view Luz the cutest little place on the Algarve. Here are some Pics of New Year’s Day and the campsite.
Tourist Tip: If planning a trip to the Algarve then look no further than Praia da Luz. Just the right size, great beach and a wonderful Indian in neighbouring Espiche.
Quarteria 05/01 – 06/01/2015
We currently have a problem with the Kitchen tap in that it does not work. I got the tools out and noticed the wire has broken inside the tap from the microswitch. A very common problem we have been told, so common that Camperserv in Loule sell about 6 of the things a day and when we arrived were out of stock. Doh!
Homie Help: Two things. Always carry some tap microswitches as spares. Secondly, if you have a Dometic fridge make sure you get the electrics replaced within the two year warranty as they have a habit of failing soon after.
We stayed in the Aire at Quarteria which is OK except for the wonderful Marufo restaurant is closed until the end of February. There is a dodgy Swiss restaurant that fortunately was shut. So we had an Omelette in the Van.
